CARMEL VALLEY — Elections are nearing for the Carmel Valley Community Planning Board, which serves as the community’s advisory board to the San Diego City Council and Planning Commission.
According to board member Ken Farinsky, two of the investor seats and five residential seats will be open in the March 11 elections. The board consists of 15 total seats.
“People who are owners of two or more acres of land in Carmel Valley are eligible for the Investor Seats,” Farinsky said. “They must also be at least 18 years of age.”
Residential seats are for people currently living in Carmel Valley who are at least 18 years old. The five residential seats up for election are for Neighborhoods 4/4a, 7, 8, 8a and 9.
Neighborhood 4/4a consists of the eastern part of Carmel Valley north of Highway 56. Neighborhood 7 is north of Del Mar Heights Road, between El Camino Real and Glencliff Way. Neighborhood 8 is located just south of Highway 56, and 8a is south of Highway 56 adjacent to the Torrey Hills area. Finally, Neighborhood 9 is located south of Del Mar Heights Road, between El Camino Real and Carmel Country Road.
Farinsky said local residents and businesses are encouraged to join the board. Those interested, however, must attend two planning board meetings before the March elections. The first meeting was held Jan. 8 and the second will be held Feb. 12 at the Carmel Valley Library.
